The Selsey Coastguard Rescue Team and the Explosive Ordinance Disposal team were called to Medmerry Beach on Monday, August 15 after an unexploded ordnance was found. The coastguard team discovered more pieces of the device was discovered. Members of the EOD arrived at the scene later in the day when the tide went out where they then dealt with it. Afterwards the Coastguard Rescue Team warned members of the public on social media not to visit Medmerry Beach as a result of its ‘hidden dangers’ including ordnance, flooding and strong currents.
