A military bomb squad from Hurlburt Field Air Base has removed what appears to be an unexploded military artillery shell in a Jackson County community. Jackson County Sheriff’s Office shut down the area across from Lake Forest subdivision off Seaman Road. The road was closed in both directions as law enforcement waited for military personnel from Hurlburt Field Air Base out of Okaloosa County, Florida to arrive and remove the shell. The shell was discovered Monday morning in a ditch by grass cutters. When Jackson County deputies arrived on the scene, they called in the Biloxi Police Department’s Bomb Squad. Homeowners in the Lake Forest subdivision told WLOX News they were shocked to see this happen right outside their neighborhood.
