Pearl River. By Dylan Jones. On Friday, the Biloxi Bomb Squad disposed of a grenade dropped off at the Picayune Police Department. Following the death of his grandfather, Picayune man Zak Barnes says he was searching through his belongings when he came across the grenade sealed inside a plastic container. The grenade was a keepsake of his great-grandfather, a World War II veteran whose family says kept it after it was thrown at him in battle but didn’t go off. After researching the grenade, Barnes found it resembled a Type 91 grenade, first issued to soldiers of the Japanese Imperial Army in 1931.
