A hand grenade placed inside a polythene bag was found hanging on a tree in Bambalapitiya on Saturday (31) by a CMC worker who had been cleaning the roads in the area. According to the Daily News, the worker had alerted the Police after which investigations had revealed that the hand grenade was a ‘JR’ model and was internationally manufactured. The hand grenade was discovered on a tree near a bus stop on Bauddaloka Mawatha, between Galle Road and Duplication Road. The Police said investigations are underway with the help of CCTV cameras at business establishments located in and around the place where the hand grenade had been found. (NewsWire)
