Police have carried out a search of New Brighton beach after a suspicious item was found. HM Coastguard were seen parked up on the seafront at around 10.20am this morning, June 2, as police officers searched the beach. Merseyside Police said they were called following reports a suspected rusted ordnance had been found. The tide is currently covering the area where the item was found and a small cordon is in place to stop the public from accessing it. At this stage, police are unable to confirm what the item is.
