“We thought we would give it a go and went out to Swarkestone canal yesterday afternoon. We put the magnet in and it pulled out this object. “It was round and quite heavy and was covered in gunk and rust. I originally thought it was an old bit of canal machinery or something.

Due magnetofolli muniti di cima e magnete da un canale “pescano” una bomba a mano-mortaio risalente alla seconda guerra mondiale e di fabbricazione italiana. La coppia dichiara alla nostra fonte d’aver creduto di sollevare un pezzo meccanico. Una bomba a mano che poteva esplodere scambiata per altro. Un hobby tanto inutile quanto pericoloso per chi lo pratica, per chi è inconsapevolmente presente sul posto, per i residenti e per gli stessi artificieri che devono intervenire su un tipo di bomba (Brixia) che nel passato ha già provocato vittime.
