The Ministry of Defence said it was a 29mm Spigot Mortar that was found in Aylesbrook this afternoon. Spigot Mortars are anti-tank weapons from the Second World War. A Ministry of Defence spokesperson said an Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team from Ashchurch Troop, 721 EOD Squadron, 11 EOD and Search Regiment, attended Aylesbrook Road, Hereford at the request of West Mercia Police. The team found and identified a 29mm Spigot Mortar, which was then destroyed.
