An unexploded bomb has been found this afternoon (November 29) at Biggin Hill Airport in Bromley, South East London. The old World War Two explosive was discovered by builders who were doing work on the main terminal. The device was found at around 1pm today, with cordons put in place to protect workers and passengers. The device was removed from the airport by bomb disposal experts and taken to be destroyed. The London Fire Brigade and Ambulance Service supported the Metropolitan Police during the operation. Bromley Council were told by police that the bomb was from the WW2 era. A spokesperson from the Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called at 12:54hrs on Tuesday, 29 November to Biggin Hill Airport after a suspected unexploded ordnance was found during building works. “Cordons were in place while specialist officers assessed. The item was then taken for safe disposal. The airport remains open and operational.”
