An area of woodland was sealed off in Wirral when an ‘unexploded device’ was spotted. Merseyside Police were called to Eastham Rake at around 11.20am on April 1. A member of the public had reported finding a suspected unexploded device in the river. Large parts of the woodland was cordoned off as witnesses reported seeing MATRIX police vans in the area. Police say The Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team attended the scene and removed the device for safe disposal. The woodland was re-opened in the early afternoon after the area had been deemed safe by emergency services. Close to Eastham Rake railway station, the area is a popular spot for dog walkers.
