Veghel è città nota ai lettori di biografiadiunabomba, a causa della pesca ai residuati bellici per mezzo del magnete. Quanto spazio abbiamo dedicato all’assurdo comportamento, abbiamo scritto commenti seri, ironici, talvolta sferzanti ed impetuosi. Certo nessuno pretende che il portale web succitato raggiunga la città di Veghel e che sia addirittura letta, ma per noi è importante che i nostri lettori siano informati quanto sia pericoloso pescare ordigni inesplosi. Ma torniamo alla notizia: Henk Driessen, un 61enne, intervistato dal Brabants Dagblad candidamente dichiara che nonostante il suo hobby sia pericoloso da quattro anni pesca ordigni dal Canale Aa. Non solo, con grande orgoglio al giornale spiega d’aver trasmesso la stessa passione “magnete-ordigno” al figlio William. In Europa, raccogliere, un residuato bellico, spostarlo, senza possedere requisiti Eod, si infrangono più reati civili e penali. Ma c’è di più, nell’istante in cui il magnete attrae il vecchio ordigno, avviene la prima sollecitazione ai meccanismi della spoletta dell’ordigno e durante le manovre atte a far riemergere la bomba, quest’ultima è costretta dalla corrente del flusso d’acqua a continue oscillazioni che avvolgono nel pericolo sia l’incauto pescatore, sia le ignare persone in quel momento in transito sul posto. A questo punto è necessaria una precisazione: i residuati bellici della prima o seconda guerra mondiale conservano perfettamente le proprie capacità detonanti. Ordigni che non temono, clima, tempo o acqua. Oggi l’involucro esterno della bomba possiede le stesse originali dimensioni del periodo in cui è stata sparata. La carica detonante è sempre in attesa di compiere la reazione chimica per cui è stata inserita nel proietto, vale a dire esplodere. A tutto ciò per la sicurezza del Sig. Henk Driessen, del figlio William dobbiamo specificare che l’unico componente che il tempo ha corroso, distrutto, reso inesistente è solo la molla di ritegno, altri casi, semplici ghiere, oggi inesistenti che non possono più distanziare il percussore dal detonatore. Ed è per questa ragione che ogni pur leggera sollecitazione al residuato bellico potrebbe risultare pericolosa.

Certainly, nobody thinks that this web will reach Veghel or that someone of those people would actually read something about, but it is important that our readers know how much it is dangerous fishing unexploded devices. Anyway, coming back to te news: Henk Driessen, 61 years old, interviwed by Brabants Dagblad journal, claims that, although his hobby is dangerous, he have been fishing for 4 years by now, in the Aa channel. NOt only, with great proud, he explains that he has transmitted this passion to his son William. In Europe, to catch an unexploded device, to move it without having Eod requiriments, is a way to committ a crime. There’s more, in the moment in which the magnet attracts the old device, there is the first stimulation to the mechanisms of the pin and during all the acts aimed at taking out the bomb, this latter is submitted to water’s flow which produces continuos oscillations that put the fisher in danger and the unaware bystanders as well. At this point, it is necessary a precisation: unexploded device from the first and second world war can perfectly keep their capacity of explosion. Devices that do not fear wheather, time or water. Today the exterior shell of the bomb has the same dimensions of the time in which it was shooted. The charge of detonating is always waiting for the reaction, and that is the explosion. For the safety of Henk Driessen and his son, we have to remember that the only component corroded by time is the retention spring, in other cases simple, by now, non-existent cap seals that cannot mantain the gap between the firing pin and the detonator anymore.
