De granaat was gevonden tijdens graafwerkzaamheden bij station Veenendaal. De Explosieven Opruimingsdienst Defensie (EOD) heeft het explosief onschadelijk gemaakt.

Als het nodig is, schakelt de politie de EOD in. Die opruimingsdienst neemt dan verdere veiligheidsmaatregelen, bijvoorbeeld een ontruiming van het gebied.
