Unexploded ordnance was found on the beach Sunday at Assateague Island National Seashore, according to an eyewitness. The ordnance was found near the very first parking lot closest to the entrance, according to eyewitness Laura Benedict Sileo, and lifeguards were clearing the area. Yellow caution tape had also been placed at the nearest boardwalk entrance. According to WBOC, a controlled demolition of the World War II ordnance took place at abut 3:30pm Sunday.
