Moretonhampstead. Devon and Cornwall Police said it received reports a possible explosive had been located in Butterdon Wood, near Moretonhampstead, at about 13:05 BST on Tuesday. Police said the item was believed to be a mortar round and a 100m (328ft) cordon was set up while it was removed by a Royal Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal team. A navy spokesperson said the device was removed and disposed of safely.
If you find anything that appears to be an explosive device, do not touch it, leave it where it is and call the police. We will contact the appropriate agencies to properly dispose of the item.
