Roads were closed in Sunbury after an unexploded World War Two “device” was discovered by a member of the public on Wednesday (May 17). Church Street, based next to Sunbury Park, was shut following the discovery near the riverside opposite St Mary’s Church. Green Street and part of Thames Street have also been closed. In a statement, a spokesperson for Surrey Police said spoke about disruption while they dealt with the incident. They said: “Officers were called at 12.15pm today (Wednesday, May 17) to the riverside opposite St Mary’s Church, Sunbury, after what is suspected to be an unexploded World War Two device was found by a member of the public.
