Solomon Islands, just a three hour flight from Brisbane, is grappling with a deadly problem that’s been eight decades in the making. The country’s littered with unexploded bombs, mortars and other ammunition left behind by American and Japanese forces after fierce battles to control the islands during World War Two. Japan, the United State and allies are putting some effort towards cleaning up the mess, some locals say it’s not enough.
If you find anything that appears to be an explosive device, do not touch it, leave it where it is and call the police. We will contact the appropriate agencies to properly dispose of the item.
