A bomb squad was called to a rural site near Chester after Second World War explosives were found. Officers from Cheshire Constabulary were called to help search for ‘possible explosive devices’ in the area on Monday (October 3) after they were spotted by members of the public. The devices were found to be ‘military explosives’ found during building work at a rural property. They were then assessed to be training mortars from the Second World War. An explosive ordinance disposal (EOD) from the Royal Logistics Corp was called. They confirmed the nature of the devices and safely removed them.
