The Sandwich Police Department says a beach walker found what appeared to be a military-style mortar round on Thursday afternoon. The Massachusetts State Police reportedly conducted a controlled detonation of the object at Scorton Neck Beach. The Sandwich PD says military ordnance from World War two have been discovered in the area previously.
