The bomb squad was called to a Staffordshire street after reports of a ‘historic hand grenade’ being found. Garner Street, in Etruria, was blocked off and a site evacuated while the incident was dealt with yesterday (July 4). Staffordshire Police later confirmed the hand grenade was a replica which has been taken away to be disposed of, Stoke-on-Trent Live reports. A spokesman said: “Police were called at 11.10am this morning to reports that a historic hand grenade had been found in a building on Garner Street, in Stoke-on-Trent. “As a precautionary measure, the site was evacuated and a cordon was set up around the immediate area. The Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team attended and confirmed that the item is a replica and they took it away for disposal.”
