An East Islip resident made an alarming discovery Tuesday morning while looking through a dead family member’s belongings. Around 8:40 a.m. Tuesday, police received a call from a Pequot Lane resident. The caller said they found a grenade among the relative’s items. Officers went to the home, secured the grenade, and rendered it safe.
If you find anything that appears to be an explosive device, do not touch it, leave it where it is and call the police. We will contact the appropriate agencies to properly dispose of the item.
