Předmět připomínající granát objevil v neděli 24. září při práci na zahradě domu muž na Studánce u Varnsdorfu. Ten našel při okopávání zahradní skalky a o svém nálezu hned informoval policisty.
Podle pyrotechniků je největší chybou prvě manipulace s municí. „Je potřeba si uvědomit že byla vyrobena hlavně proto, aby zabíjela. Rozhodně by s ní neměl nikdo manipulovat, nebo si s ní hrát. Riziko výbuchu je velké.
