Usually, police or military explosive ordnance disposal teams are called in to dispose of unexploded ordnance that are sometimes found in construction sites. Degula instead brought the bomb to the house of a friend named Joseph Namion, a mechanic who had power tools, to open the rusty metal casement of the bomb. A scared Namion left his house when Degula refused to listen to his warning against using the steel cutter on the bomb. Duadua said the loud explosion caused panic among villagers in Barangay Maligo.

The work stops because of the strange finding and Claus Degula immediately goes to the working site, however he decides not to call the police but his friend, Mr. Joseph Namion, telling him that he is bringing to his house an unusual object. His friend is a technician who is able to “work” on the bomb, according to our engineer. Joseph suggests to avoid the electric saw, but Claus is firmly convinced that is the right way to operate on the bomb. Jospeh, afraid of the outcome, decides to leave the laboratory. The engineer starts working with the electric saw on the external part of the bomb, liberating a huge flow of sparks in every direction until the bomb finally explodes destroying Vincent Claus Degula’s body.
