Lounais-Suomen poliisi ja puolustusvoimat järjesti huhti- toukokuun vaihteessa ase- ja räjähdekeräyksen. Poliisi vastaanotti kahden viikon aikana yli 600 ilmoitusta luovutetuista aseista ja räjähteistä. Joukossa oli muun muassa runsaasti luvattomia käsiaseita. Tällä kertaa luovutettavia aseita ja räjähteitä ilmoitettiin poliisille noin neljänneksen enemmän kuin vuonna 2012 järjestetyssä keräyksessä. Jokainen tarpeeton tai luvaton ase, joka on poissa kansalaisten kodeista, parantaa turvallisuutta, ylikonstaapeli Petry Hyrkäs kertoi tiedotteessa. Poliisi muistuttaa, että aseita ja räjähteitä voi luovuttaa poliisille ilman seuraamuksia myös kampanjan ulkopuolella. Varsinais-Suomessa suurin osa kerätyistä aseista oli haulikoita, Satakunnassa kivääreitä. Räjähteitä keräsi poliisin terroripommiryhmä yhdessä Puolustusvoimien kanssa.

Polisen påminner att alla upptäckter av militära sprängämnen och vapen alltid ska anmälas till Nödcentralen. Att på eget bevåg hantera eller utforska militära sprängämnen är livsfarligt, skriver polisen i ett pressmeddelande.
