Police have disposed of an unexploded World War Two shell that was found by a member of the public in the Mourne Mountains on Sunday. In the afternoon of Sunday, February 12, police received reports that an object had been found on land close to Head Road in Annalong and attended the scene. The object was later found to be an unexploded WW2 shell and was made safe by Ammunition Technical Officers on Monday, February 13.
