Police were called out after a woman digging in a garden near Vancouver’s Hinge Park in Olympic Village unearthed an old grenade, the Vancouver Police Department confirmed. It’s currently unclear how long the grenade had been there, or who put it there,” Sgt. Steve Addison told CityNews. Explosives technicians from our Emergency Response Team analyzed the grenade to determine if it was active, then rendered it inert by using a small explosive charge,” he said. There is no further risk to the public, and the area has been reopened, Addison says. The investigation is ongoing, police say.
