Khi tới hiện trường, lực lượng chức năng xác định, quả bom là loại bom cỡ lớn có số hiệu ANM 65, có đường kính 45 đến 50 cm, chiều dài 1,2 m (có trọng lượng hơn 350 kg), do Mỹ ném xuống trong những năm tháng chiến tranh.
