È mattina, la città è indaffarata: mercati, commercianti, venditori ambulanti. I pastori tra la sabbia del deserto conducono al pascolo il bestiame di famiglia. Altri residenti avviano piccole imbarcazioni per affrontare qualche ora di pesca nei fiumi Chari e Logone, quest’ultimo suo affluente naturale che da queste parti, di fatto divide il territorio del Ciad, da quello del Camerun. I ragazzini in strada, per recarsi a scuola. Sebbene in Ciad la comunità cristiana sia quasi invisibile, è il 25 dicembre, Natale anche nel Ciad, e lo sanno anche i quattro studentelli che nel primo Distretto di Hile Houdjadj percorrono una stradina per recarsi ad un raduno studentesco in una scuola privata del posto. I quattro bambini per quanto attesi da insegnanti e amici in aula non possono giungere. Infatti lungo il percorso i piccoli trovano un residuato bellico inesploso. L’ordigno sicuramente sollecitato dal peso di uno dei quattro detona, due studentelli, afferma la Polizia locale, muoiono sul posto, i restanti due, gravemente feriti al tronco e con enormi lesioni alle gambe, vengono soccorsi e trasportati presso l’ospedale di zona.

It is morning, the city is all busy: open-air markets, merchants, peddlers. Shepherds graze family’s livestock in the sand of the desert. Other inhabitants launch their boats to spend some hours fishing in the rivers Chari e Logone, the latter divides the territory of Ciad from the Camerun one. Kids are in the streets on their way to school. Although in Ciad the Christian community is almost invisible, it is 25 december, Christmas, in Ciad as well and it is known by the four pupils who are going to a student gathering in the first district of Hile Houdjadj. The four kids actually will not reach the place because on the way, they find an unexploded device. The device, stimulated by the weight of one of them, explodes. The police announces that two kids died on site, the other two who are seriously injured on the torso with huge lesions at the legs, are immediately transferred to the hospital. S.J.A.L.
