RIPLEY TWP. – Mushroom hunters got a potentially dangerous surprise Monday morning when they turned up what they thought was a live hand grenade. The hunters were in the woods near a residence on Township Road 511 in Big Prairie around 10 a.m. when they made their unexpected find. It prompted the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office to call out the Ashland County Bomb Squad. According to Holmes County Chief of Detectives Richard Haun, the bomb squad immediately came out and detonated it.
