It happens in the south of Sudan, in Hai Darjat, belonging to the city of Wau (Wāw), Radio Tamazuj said. Three children play outside, on the sand. They are laughing, having fun together when, suddenly, one of them sees a strange toy, something new that they can use in their spare time, something that they parents would allow to play with. They turn this object in their hands, they ignore the fact that actually, it is a bomb. They carry on playing with the device, which, after many stimulations, explodes. They cannot play anymore, cannot return to their home, hug their parents, not anymore. The bomb exploded in the hands of the eldest, the other two undergo many serious injuries made by the splinters and while they dream a wonderful future in which they have all fingers, or in which they are not mutilated, they are taken to the city’s hospital. Accade nel Sudan del Sud, località Hai Darjat, appartenente al comune di Wau (Wāw), indica Radio Tamazuj. Tre bambini giocano all’aperto, tra la sabbia. Giocano, ridono, si divertono. Ad un tratto uno dei tre nota tra le piccole dune un giocattolo, o ingenuamente pensa che sia un oggetto con cui continuare a trascorrere il tempo libero concesso dai famigliari. I bambini vicendevolmente si passano tale sconosciuto prodotto che in realtà è una bomba. I piccoli continuano a giocare con l’ordigno, il quale dopo aver subito numerose sollecitazioni esplode. I tre bambini smettono di giocare, vorrebbero tornare a casa, riabbracciare i genitori, ma non possono. Il più grande nel momento della detonazione ha la bomba tra le mani. I restanti due patiscono numerose lacerazioni fisiche prodotte dalle schegge e mentre sognano, vengono trasportati presso l’ospedale della città.

A teenage boy was killed and three others injured when a hand grenade accidentally exploded at Hai Darjat in Wau town on Friday, a relative said. Khamis Sebit, uncle to the boy who died, told Radio Tamazuj that the children were playing outdoors when they found the grenade in a sandy place. He further said kids mistook the grenade as a toy and were playing with it when it accidentally went off. Sebit pointed out that the injured boys were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
