An Israel Defense Forces soldier attempted on Sunday to board a train while in possession of the remains of an anti-aircraft bullet, police said. Guards identified the munition and stopped the soldier after they X-rayed her bag while she was entering the Tel Aviv Savidor Central railway station, the busiest in the country. Police were called to the scene and identified the massive bullet as an old anti-aircraft round. Sappers were deployed to examine it. The soldier had reportedly found the bullet, which did not contain explosives, at the base where she serves. The case has been referred to the Military Police. In January, an Israeli soldier was killed and three others injured in an accidental explosion on an IDF base in the Jordan Valley. The soldier who died had found a grenade during a training exercise and brought it back to his room, where it detonated. Last year, an American family caused a bomb scare at Ben-Gurion Airport when they showed security personnel an unexploded shell they found on the Golan Heights and intended to bring home.
