A hand grenade was recovered on Wednesday afternoon by labourers while digging for the construction of a drain on Badaun Road in the Subhashnagar police station limits of Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh. A roadside vendor reported to the authorities that a hand grenade has been unearthed by some labourers who were digging the road. For a short period of time, police sealed the Kargaina section of Badaun Road. Senior officials, including the SSP, had arrived at the scene to investigate the matter. A team has been assembled to look into the case and probe whether the hand grenades are active or not. As per the initial probe, police said that the grenade is quite old and inactive. Bareilly’s SSP Rohit Singh Sajwan told that Army officers have also been informed about the recovery of the bomb. After a spot investigation by the forensic team, police have seized the bomb. The SSP also said that this hand grenade is very old and only after investigation, it will be known if the hand grenade is inactive or not. The SSP also said that the hand grenade was carefully seized and the matter has also been informed to the bomb squad officials.
