Stockton-on-Tees. By Gavin Havery. A controlled explosion was carried out today, Sunday, August 14, after an old hand grenade was found in farmer’s field. Bomb disposal experts were called to Carlton Village, Stockton, just before 1.45pm. A village resident contacted Cleveland Police to report an old hand grenade had been unearthed. A cordon was put in place as a precautionary measure while police sought advice from explosives experts. They attended and carried out a controlled explosion on the device at 4.30pm and the incident has now safely concluded.
