Believing the grenade to be a piece of metal, Stanley took it home at around 3pm with the intention of cutting it up, to the dismay of his father. Lisa Wallis, Stanley’s mother, said she received a text message from her husband saying he thought his son had brought home a grenade and had called the police. She said: “It was really stressful because we thought if they couldn’t move it, it would end up like the detonation in Exeter and our home would be damaged. We’ve not had the best news in this family recently and adding a hand grenade to that is not ideal.”

L’11-enne pensa sia un semplice pezzo di ferro, perciò decide di mostrarla al padre. Il piccolo adolescenti giunge a casa e consegna la bomba al genitore il quale resta esterrefatto, quindi allerta subito la Polizia. Sul posto giungono gli artificieri che distruggono l’ordigno.
