Gate 20 at Fort Carson was closed Friday due to reports of an “unexploded ordnance” being found near the gate. Fort Carson officials first announced the closure just after 11:15 a.m. The gate was back open before 1:20 p.m. Officials said the Directorate of Emergency Services and explosive ordnance disposal personnel responded. Details on what the device was were not available, but the situation was taken care of. A spokesperson for the Mountain Post explained a situation like this is actually quite common.
