Coffeyville magnet fisherman finds artillery shell in Verdigris River

Montgomery County. Ted Bojorquez. Coffeyville local and avid magnet fisherman Chance James was out on one of his classic magnet fishing expeditions when he came across an explosive discovery. While James was fishing in the Verdigris River near Coffeyville he fished out and old unexploded artillery shell. James immediately informed police that he had located a possibly live piece of ordnance. The Wichita Bomb Squad were also contacted along with the Air Force who are currently on their way to the shell’s location to take possession of and dispose of it. It is currently not known if the shell is live or a dud.
