The ordnance was found Tuesday on a construction site in the back of The Farm community, said Horry County Government spokeswoman Kelly Moore. The bomb was discovered on land used by the U.S. Army as a bombing and gunnery range between 1942 and 1947. Pilots practiced bombing, strafing and rocket firing on the property. “It’s not a completely rare occurrence,” Moore said of finding unexploded ordnances there.
