Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune officials are warning boaters to steer clear of Browns Island and surrounding navigable waters near Hammocks Beach State Park and Onslow Beach because of the frequent live-fire training exercises conducted in the area and the danger of unexploded ordnance (UXO). During a recent sweep of these waters after Hurricane Isaias in August 2020, the MCB Camp Lejeune Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team recovered a UXO in the vicinity of Browns Inland.
Funzionari del Corps Base Camp Lejeune allertano residenti, villeggianti e diportisti che a causa dell’uragano Isaias, tra l’Hammocks Beach State Park e l’Onslow Beach è possibile rinvenire ordigni bellici inesplosi.
If you find anything that appears to be an explosive device, do not touch it, leave it where it is and call the police. We will contact the appropriate agencies to properly dispose of the item.
