York’s police HQ was evacuated this morning (Wednesday). Officers and civilian staff had to leave Fulford Road Police Station at about 10.15am after someone handed in a grenade. They called in the bomb squad to check out the Second World War-era hand grenade.
If you find anything that appears to be an explosive device, do not touch it, leave it where it is and call the police. We will contact the appropriate agencies to properly dispose of the item.
