Bomb disposal experts were called to a Scots railway station after a “small” explosive device – thought to be a World War 2 era grenade – was discovered nearby. Cops and a specialist explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) team descended on Greenfaulds train station in Cumbernauld at around 3.30pm on Wednesday. Reports suggest that the device, which was found in a grassy area beside the station serving the southern end of the Lanarkshire town, was an unexploded WW2 bomb. Police Scotland did not comment on the viability of the explosive – but maintains that it posed “no threat” to the local community.
