THE bomb squad were called after a World War Two device was found in a property garden. Police and the army’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team attended Upton Close, Waterside Village this afternoon, Friday, July 29. A police cordon was put in place in the area as a precaution. The item was found to be a World War two training device and “posed no risk to the public”. A Merseyside Police spokeswoman said: “We can confirm police were in attendance in St Helens today, Friday. July 29, following the discovery of a suspected unexploded ordnance device.
