“If you ever come across anything suspicious like this item, please do not pick it up, contact your local law enforcement agency for assistance”
By Tom Swindles
Police were first called to Dobbies garden centre in Rougham Road at 8am on Tuesday by a member of the public after reports of a suspected unexploded device. The army team arrived from Colchester at 10.15am. Dobbies Garden Centre was evacuated as the army investigated the device. At about 12.15pm, the army team carried out a controlled explosion of the device after it was moved to a safe location. In an update at about 3.30pm, it is believed the device was a dummy tank shell used for wartime training. It was removed to a nearby field where the explosion was carried out.
