A loud controlled explosion was carried out after a member of the public found an unexploded WW2 grenade in St James’ Park. Tourists were left stunned after the “very old” device was discovered, social media users revealed. The area has been blocked off to the public as police tackle the incident. While the incident was shocking to many tourists, Londoners have grown accustomed to the occasional controlled explosion due to old WW2 findings. Just this May a suspected WW2 bomb was discovered at a building in south London, forcing around 40 people to be evacuated as tens of firefighters and police rushed to the scene. The device was later declared safe, however, not before a 50m cordon was installed to keep the public safe.
