A 100-kg wartime bomb was discovered by workers at Viet Tri Port in the northern province of Phu Tho this week, measuring 40 cm in diameter and 1.5 m in length. According to authorities of Ben Got Ward, where the bomb was found on Wednesday, it is the type of bomb used by the U.S. Air Force to attack the Viet Tri port and wharf area from 1970 to 1972. Local authorities immediately secured the area, set up warning signs, and blocked access to both people and vehicles. The city People’s Committee and the provincial Military Command were promptly notified for urgent action. The military command directed the Viet Tri military command to collaborate with relevant agencies to clear the site and establish safe access routes for the bomb’s removal.
