A bomb unit was called to a Watertown car dealership Friday to check on a hand grenade in a box in a car, troopers said. Troopers responded to the car near Bob Johnson’s Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram on State Route 11 around 9:36 a.m., said Trooper Jennifer Jiron, a state police spokesperson. A woman cleaning out an empty residence had found a box with the hand grenade inside, Jiron said. The woman put the device in her car then drove to her other job near the dealership, she said. The woman told people at the dealership what she had found, and the dealership staff called 911. The State Police bomb disposal unit and the Fort Drum explosive ordnance disposal came to the dealership and removed the device, Jiron said.
