Bomb squad experts rushed to an Essex coastal town on Friday (August 18) following reports of an “unexploded grenade” being found. Officers from Essex Police were called to an address in Tan Lane in Clacton at about 11.50am. Officers attended and put in place appropriate safety measures, including a cordon. A police spokesperson said: “We liaised with the explosive ordinance disposable (EOD) unit who removed the grenade and moved it to a suitable location for disposal.” The Ministry of Defence (MoD) was contacted for further information.
If you find anything that appears to be an explosive device, do not touch it, leave it where it is and call the police. We will contact the appropriate agencies to properly dispose of the item.
