Around 50 forest department personnel had a narrow escape when around seven landmines exploded at Lakadpaju forest in Odisha’s Boudh district on Sunday. According to sources, a 50-member team of the forest department were on a mission to destroy the illegal ganja cultivation in the forest. While crossing the road, seven landmines exploded one after another. However, no one was injured in the explosion. Some wires were seized from the spot. However, it is still not clear if the explosions were the handiwork of illegal ganja cultivators or Maoists. Notably, the forest department has started a drive to destroy ganja cultivation being illegally raised on hundreds of acres of forest land.
