Residents were evacuated from a street in Salford this afternoon following the discovery of ‘items of concern’ – believed to be grenades. Emergency services descended on Bridgewater Street, in Little Hulton, following the discovery. The bomb squad will assess the find. A number of people were evacuated from their homes for safety, residents told the Manchester Evening News. Photos show police officers in the street, with a cordon in place. In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: “Greater Manchester Police received a report at around 11am today (Wednesday 26 October 2022) regarding items of concern which are believed to grenades at a property on Bridgewater Street, Worsley. “After initial enquiries a cordon has now been put in place as a safety precaution by officers with a number of properties being evacuated and members of public are asked to avoid the area whilst Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) ensure the scene is safe and secure.”
