Dorset Police closed Ferry Way in Studland after receiving a report of an explosive device. The Sandbanks chain ferry, linking Sandbanks and Studland, also closed while Ferry Way was closed between 2pm and 3pm. A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “Dorset Police received a report at 9.53am on Thursday September 8 relating to an explosive device that had been located in the area of Ferry Road in Studland. Officers have liaised with explosive ordnance device experts and a cordon has been put in place. This will be extended between 2pm and 3.30pm this afternoon as a controlled detonation is carried out. “We would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding while the cordons are in place.”
