A Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad was summoned to a Campbell home on the report of a suspicious device, authorities said. A grenade found outside a South Bay home Thursday afternoon was safely detonated, authorities said. A Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad responding to a Campbell residence on the report of a suspicious device safely detonated the grenade at 3:37 p.m., the agency wrote on its Facebook page. “Bomb Squad Technicians confirmed the device was a live grenade and the grenade was safely detonated and rendered safe,” the agency said. “We are grateful for the swift response and amazing teamwork with #CampbellPolice. Great job by everyone involved!” A loud explosion was heard in the neighborhood when the live grenade was detonated.
