Worcestershire Highways tweeted: “Eckington Bridge – police and bomb disposal experts are at the scene”, after earlier saying: “Eckington Bridge is closed due to a police incident”. In August a controlled explosion took place of unexploded Second World War bomb that was fished out of the River Severn in Bewdley. On that occasion police brought in a bomb squad to recover the device, which they later identified as a piece of ordnance.
