Dall’otto al 18 novembre nel mare di Cherbourg iniziano le operazioni denominate Northern Cutaway 21. Si tratta di una missione addestrativa francese che vede la partecipazione di altre forze NATO: nordamericane, tedesche, belghe, italiane, e spagnole. Tra i compiti della cooperazione molto importante è la ricerca subacquea dei residuati bellici inabissati.
